Registration is now open for our annual Rochester Librarian Tech Camp. This FREE event is open to all School, Public, Academic, and Special Librarians! It will be held August 21 and 22 at Monroe 2 BOCES Educational Services Center (ESC), 3599 Big Ridge Road, Spencerport.
Each day has its own registration link (to attend both dates you will need to register for both dates).
DAY 1
Day 1 will feature various workshop sessions on trends and instructional practices for librarians and will also feature a vendor fair.

Day One Keynote Presenter Bio:
Susan D. Ballard, Vice-President of the NCDE Board of Directors, is a Past-President of the American Association of School Librarians (AASL), a division of the American Library Association (ALA). A retired District Director of Library, Media and Technology in NH, she guided her program to AASL National School Library Media Program of the Year Award recognition. She later parlayed her field experiences and expertise into successful practice as an adjunct professor and lecturer in a variety of school librarian preparation programs (and) most recently into the development of a new program for the University System of New Hampshire.
Susan served as a member of AASL’s National Standards and Guidelines Editorial Board, responsible for the development of the National School Library Standards for Learners, Librarians and School Libraries. She is currently serving on the ALA/AASL CAEP Coordinating Committee to revise Standards for the Preparation of School Librarians to align with the new national standards. She is also a member of the Advisory Board for the peer-reviewed journal, Teacher Librarian, and the Board of Directors for the Q.E.D. Foundation.
Susan has published numerous articles in a variety of professional and scholarly journals and has edited and contributed to several books including chapters in two 2017 releases – Creating Data Literate Students and Data Literacy in the Real World: Conversations and Case Studies – developed as part of a University Of Michigan initiative supporting librarians in adding data literacy skills to information literacy instruction.
Day Two Keynote Presenter Bio:
Dan Schneiderman is one of the co-chairs of Maker Faire Rochester, a giant show-and-tell that is one part science fair, one part craft fair, and carnival, where hundreds of makers share their creations with eager visitors. He has worked with libraries, K-12 schools, museums, and festivals across New York State and has mentored school districts as they establish school makerspaces and Maker Faires. In June 2016, Dan became a lead representative of the New York State Maker Movement to the White House’s “Nation of Makers Initiative.” As part of this effort, Dan is has established a network of makers from across New York state and organized the 1st New York State Maker Summit. In 2017, Dan was awarded the Digital Rochester GREAT Emerging Tech Leader Award and was named one of The Rochester 10 by Rochester City Newspaper. Professionally, Dan is a K-12 University Center Senior Outreach Specialist at the Rochester Institute of Technology where he focuses on S.T.E.A.M. and maker initiatives.
This summer, Tech Camp will be held at Monroe 2 BOCES ESC Building on August 21st and 22nd.
The Makerspace & Tech Petting Zoo will be held from 12:30 – 1:40p.m. on August 22nd.
