This series of brief webinars illuminates the behind-the-scenes work that is done to make digital collections available on the New York Heritage Digital Collections website. Interviews with the professional staff reveal stories from the archives, how materials were chosen for digital projects, and the impact the collections have in interpreting the past.
Brandon Fess, Special Collections Librarian at the Rochester Public Library’s Local History & Genealogy Department will be joined by Lisa Buda, now a Librarian at Rochester Regional Health to discuss their work in bringing some of Rochester Public Library’s digital collections to New York Heritage. Their work focussed on taking nearly 9000 previously scanned and catalogued digital objects and transforming the existing metadata for use in New York Heritage. Join us to hear more about the Library’s digital collections and what they learned along the way
New York Heritage Digital Collections, created and maintained by the Empire State Library Network, promotes access to the wealth of historical resources held by cultural heritage institutions—so that inquiring minds can learn more about the people, places, and events that contributed to the making of New York State.
