Dan works with K-12 schools across western New York and has mentored school districts as they establish school makerspaces and Maker Faires.

• Block Coding – Block coding allows kids to develop their own games, stories, animations and other many interactive programs by dragging and dropping blocks of code.
• Music with iTrack Studio – Whether you’re an experienced musician or just starting out, iTrack Studio gives you everything you need to record music on your iPad, Mac, or Windows PC

1:00 – 2:30 Breakout Sessions – pick one
• Game Design with Bloxels – Bloxels is a tool that allows students to design and build video games without any coding skills required. The tool allows students to use blocks as different elements in the game, focusing on building key computational thinking skills like: iterative design, debugging and problem solving. Attendees will receive a Bloxels kit and spend time exploring both the kit and the accompanying app as they learn to build their own video games.
• Lighting and Green Screen – You’re standing in the middle of New York City, a rainforest, a hurricane in the Bahamas, or the Great Wall of China. All are possible through the use of green screen video technology. In this session you will learn about creating your own green screen, how to use a simple app to create videos and tips for implementing in your classroom. You will even walk away with a portable LED lighting kit to give your videos a professional quality.
• Digital Painting and Design – In this introduction to digital painting and design skills attendees will get a basic understanding and build comfort with a number of tools and across a variety of applications. Attendees will walk away with a SensuBrush for using on touch sensitive devices along with ideas for implementing in their learning spaces.
