$15

The National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House welcomes, Jane Oakes, to its Monday Lecture SeriesOakes’ lecture will focus on, The Ladies of Rochester’s Central Medical College, 1850-1852.

Did you know that Rochester was, for two short years, home to the first intentionally coeducational medical school in the country? Or that two of the women accepted to study there, and one of their professors, were children of pioneers from the Genesee Valley?

Only a few months after Elizabeth Blackwell’s graduation from Geneva Medical College, these ladies chose to study a profession long denied them by men. Learn about these seven daring women and how they helped forge the way for others of their sex.

Jane Oakes holds an MA in History. She worked for Genesee Country Village and Museum for nearly 25 years, and was the Education Coordinator for the William A. Mills Mansion Museum in Mt. Morris for six years. Her varied lectures about local history have been popular with historical societies, schools and civic organizations across our region for many years.

The National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House is pleased to present the 14th season of its popular Monday Lecture Series!

The cost for the tea and presentation is $15, or subscribe to the entire series of informal teatime presentations for $150.
