For the past 8 years, the CLIC-on-Health website has provided the Rochester area with contact information for health associations, clinics and agencies that help people with health issues. By fall of 2010, that information will be part of the national Go Local database.
The National Library of Medicine’s consumer health database, MedlinePlus, is adding a Go Local database in each state to connect web users with accurate health data for their area. Users of Go Local will be able to find services in the Go Local database by browsing the following categories:health topics, geographic locations, or healthcare providers and agency names.
The Rochester Regional Library Council is coordinating the development of Go Local in Upstate New York in partnership with the New York 3R councils north of Westchester County. The project is funded by a $25,000 grant from the National Library of Medicine.
We invite you to follow the development of the database at the Upstate New York Go Local Blog.
