Summer School 2009: What's New in Children's Books - REGISTRATION CLOSED

REGISTRATION CLOSED.  Please call RRLC office at 223-7570 if you would like to be placed on a waiting list.  Thank you.

Learn about the best books published for children in the past year, and how to use them with your readers. Participants will learn of outstanding strategies to help readers get the most out of the new books without destroying the pleasure of reading. Techniques to motivate children to read and learn from the books will be shared.  Many of the newly published titles will be available for participants to personally review, and participants will receive booklists that will be invaluable in planning instruction.

Dr. Peggy Sharp is well known for her presentations about new children's books, connecting the books to all areas of the curriculum, and motivating children to read. She is an experienced teacher and library media specialist and has received national awards for her creative teaching ideas.

One of the foremost experts in North America on children's literature and literature programs, she is a consultant for the Bureau of Education and Research and hundreds of school districts. She has conducted thousands of fast-paced practical workshops for Phi Delta Kappa, Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, National Staff Development, International Reading Association and other groups and organizations.
